fashion photographer karen collins was commissioned to photograph a story staged at the nike event venue designed by ceft and company. the story ran in the alternative fashion publication "doing bird" and mixed in vintage couture with nike's latest dance-wear.
during the creation of the nike dance event, featuring choreographer jamie king (who has been working with madonna since 1996), ceft and company used the set they had designed at the DIA art center in new york to stage an editorial shoot for doing bird magazine. the story featured model inguna butane, a dancer herself, wearing nike's new dance gear mixed with vintage designer dresses. this was an unexpected and smart way to introduce nike's new line of dance wear to opinion leaders across the world.
